Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Payne pursued a B.A. in Physical Anthropology before earning his M.A. in Secondary Science Education. His love for veterinary medicine led him to Michigan State University, where he earned his DVM in 2004, followed by an internship at MSU in 2005 and an Emergency & Critical Care Residency in 2010.
After years of working in emergency and critical care, Dr. Payne and his family chose to settle in Michigan, drawn by their love for the state and being closer to family. He has been happily married to his best friend, who is also an LVT and VTS in Emergency & Critical Care, for 15 years and is the proud father of two spirited daughters, and pet parent of three orange cats. Their favorite family tradition? Mario Kart battles!
